Legal Fundraising Campaign Launches After 4,300 Objections Submitted
The second round of consultation is now closed, with more than 4,300 objections submitted online. As Chelmsford City Council reviews responses, we’re launching the next phase of the campaign — raising legal funds to challenge this reckless Local Plan head-on. Help us build the strongest case possible.
Legal Action Begins – Help Fund the Fight Against the Local Plan
Following the close of the consultation, the Working Group has launched a legal fundraising drive to challenge the flawed and dangerous selection of Hammonds Farm. With 4,298 objections submitted via our website, and many more by post, it’s clear the community is united — but now we must turn that strength into legal action.
The Parish Councils of Danbury, Boreham, Sandon, and Little Baddow are backing this fight and have instructed top-tier legal and planning professionals to support the challenge.
Why This Matters
- ❌ Environmental Damage – Critical habitats under threat
- ❌ Overloaded Infrastructure – Roads, schools, GPs stretched beyond capacity
- ❌ Ignored Voices – Local opinion bypassed entirely
- ❌ Food Security – 1,300+ acres of farmland at risk of permanent loss
What’s Proposed
- Site 16a – 3,100 houses and 500,000 sq ft of business park
- Site 16b – An additional 500,000 sq ft of employment land and industrial estate
This level of overdevelopment would irreversibly change the character of the Chelmer Valley.
