Chelmsford City Council Completes Review of approx 4,500 Objections

We are pleased to announce that Chelmsford City Council (CCC) has completed its review of the 4,500 objections submitted during the Preferred Options Consultation. After a lengthy process, all these objections have now been uploaded to the consultation portal. This marks a crucial step in our ongoing efforts to protect our community from unsustainable development, and we want to thank everyone who contributed to making this possible.

In addition to completing the review, CCC is currently in the process of producing a Consultation Feedback Report. This report will set out the key issues raised in all the comments, providing a summary of the key concerns voiced by the community. It will be an important document in shaping future decisions, and we will keep you informed as soon as it becomes available.

Over the next few weeks, we will be conducting a reconciliation of these submissions to ensure that all objections have been accurately recorded and carefully considered. This is a crucial step to verify that our voices have been heard and that nothing has been overlooked in the review process.

How to Find and View Your Comments

If you would like to check that your comments have been uploaded and see how they have been integrated into the consultation documents, here is how you can do it:

  1. Visit the Consultation Portal: Go to the Chelmsford City Council Consultation Portal where the Preferred Options Consultation document and related materials are hosted.
  2. Select the Document: Choose the specific document you want to review, such as:
    • The Preferred Options Consultation Document
    • The Questionnaire
    • The Integrated Impact Assessment (IIA)
  3. View Comments: Once you have selected the relevant document, click on the section titled ‘What People Say’ This will allow you to view the comments submitted by the public on each part of the document.
  4. Navigate to Specific Comments: Within the document, look for icons that indicate where comments have been made. By clicking on these icons, you can read the feedback submitted, including your own.

By following these steps, you can ensure your contribution to the consultation is visible and properly recorded.

What’s Next?

While CCC has completed the initial input of our objections, the reconciliation process remains essential to confirm the accuracy and completeness of the review. We encourage everyone to take a moment to verify that their comments have been included and to stay engaged as we continue to advocate for the protection of our local community.

Additionally, the upcoming Consultation Feedback Report from CCC will provide a comprehensive overview of the key issues raised in all the comments. We will keep you updated as soon as this report is published (a copy will be available on the website as soon as its available), so you can see how the council plans to address the concerns we have collectively raised.

Thank you again for your continued support and participation. Your engagement is what drives this effort forward, and together, we will ensure that our voices are not just heard, but respected.

Stay tuned for further updates as we move into the next phase of our campaign.

The third article in our series: The Truth Behind the Plans - Traffic Chaos Incoming.

Chelmsford City Council’s proposal to allocate Hammonds Farm as a Strategic Growth Site for 3,000 homes and 2 major business parks may look neat in a spreadsheet — but on the ground, it spells transport chaos.

This article lays out why the assumptions underpinning the Local Plan’s transport strategy are deeply flawed, and why the burden will fall squarely on surrounding communities like Sandon, Little Baddow, Danbury, and Boreham.

The second article in our series: The Truth Behind the Plans -🛑 LANDSCAPE UNDER THREAT!

Chelmsford City Council’s draft Local Plan proposes to allocate Hammonds Farm for major development, with 3,000 homes and a large-scale business park. While the site has been promoted as a ‘garden community’, the reality is far less idyllic — and nowhere will feel the effects more deeply than the communities of Sandon, Little Baddow, Danbury, Boreham and the Chelmer Valley.
